Informational stalls from local service providers supporting disabled residents will be set up in the Civic Centre Atrium from 3-5pm. \nThe event will highlight the power of creativity\, conversation\, and community\, with an agenda featuring: \n\nMyth-busting session on Autism with Andrew Carpenter\, NHS Autism Lead\nSongs from Brent Mencap’s AllStars Group\nPresentation from the British Association for Supported Employment\, and Brent Council on our Disability Confident Leader Status\nDance performance by Unique Community’s Inclusive Young People’s Dance Company\nStand-up Comedy from Suzi Payton\, neurodivergent stand-up comedian\n\nEveryone is welcome!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a thrilling evening of poetry at Wembley Library\n\n\n \nJoin us for a thrilling evening of poetry at Wembley Library. \nWe are excited to welcome renowned poets Imtiaz Dharker (OBE)\, Rishi Dastidar and Jennifer Wong to read from their latest works\, share their insights and engage in lively discussion about the power of poetry. \nDon’t miss the chance to celebrate the beauty of poetry. \n \nImtiaz Dharker is a poet\, artist and video film maker\, awarded the Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry in 2014\, Chancellor of Newcastle University since 2020. Her seven collections\, all published by Bloodaxe Books\, include Over the Moon and the latest\, Shadow Reader. \n Her poems have featured on BBC radio\, television\, the London Underground\, Glasgow billboards and Mumbai buses. \n \nRishi Dastidar’s poetry has been published by the Financial Times\, New Scientist and the BBC\, amongst many others. His third collection\, Neptune’s Projects (Nine Arches Press)\, was longlisted for the Laurel Prize\, and a poem from it was included in The Forward Book of Poetry 2024. He is also editor of The Craft: A Guide to Making Poetry Happen in the 21st Century (Nine Arches Press)\, and co-editor of Too Young\, Too Loud\, Too Different: Poems from Malika’s Poetry Kitchen (Corsair). He is a consulting editor for The Rialto\, reviews poetry for The Guardian\, and is chair of Wasafiri\, the leading magazine of international contemporary writing. \n \nJennifer Wong (she/her) is the author of several collections including Letters Home (Nine Arches Press\, 2020). Her pamphlet\, “time difference”\, was released in October 2024 by Verve Poetry Press. Her new collection\, Light Year\, is forthcoming from Nine Arches Press end of 2025. She is also the author of Identity\, Home and Writing Elsewhere (Bloomsbury\, 2023) and co-editor of State of Play: Poets of East and Southeast Asian Heritage in Conversation (Outspoken\, 2023) and Where Else: An International Hong Kong Poetry Anthology (Verve\, 2023).
