Disabled People’s Empowerment Month Event

Join us to celebrate and empower disabled people through an event featuring panel discussions, a dance performance and stand up comedy.
Join us for an event to celebrate Disabled People’s Empowerment Month in Wembley Library on the Ground floor of Brent Civic Centre on Thursday, 17 July 2025, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. Informational stalls from local service providers supporting disabled residents will be set up in the Civic Centre Atrium from 3-5pm.
The event will highlight the power of creativity, conversation, and community, with an agenda featuring:
- Myth-busting session on Autism with Andrew Carpenter, NHS Autism Lead
- Songs from Brent Mencap’s AllStars Group
- Presentation from the British Association for Supported Employment, and Brent Council on our Disability Confident Leader Status
- Dance performance by Unique Community’s Inclusive Young People’s Dance Company
- Stand-up Comedy from Suzi Payton, neurodivergent stand-up comedian
