Are YOU ready to give back to your Community?
Brent is a diverse borough rich in the diversity of residents. More than 150 languages are spoken, and there are more than 500 locally based not-for-profit initiatives: voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that deliver a variety of regular and occasional activities to improve the lives of local residents and protect our environment.
CVS Brent is also involved in several active initiatives right now. These include the following projects:
Community Champions
In partnership with Macmillian Cancer Support, this project aims to develop a better understanding of local cancer services, ensuring they are appropriate and relevant to the diverse communities they serve. Early, appropriate health services will help to build trust, improve treatments and improve life chances of residents.
We Wear Heritage
Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project focuses on the traditional attire and costumes of Brent’s diverse communities. Activities include recruitment and training of volunteers, heritage capacity building and skills development, and managing the Community Grants programme.
Health Inequalities
Run by the newly founded Brent African Caribbean Alliance, this project will tackle the health inequalities experienced by African and Caribbean communities in Brent and the surrounding areas.
Back To Health Pathway
This project will, in conjunction with NWL Integrated Care System, Third Sector Together, and Helpforce, support patients back to health, from “Living Well” in their communities to “Waiting Well” as they are on lists for diagnosis or treatment, to “Getting Well” whilst they are in the care of the health service to “Recovering Well” back in the community.
